Professor Duffer A. Hacker—renowned explorer, archaeologist, anthropologist, paleontologist, and part-time taxidermist from the University of Chicago—embarked on two thrilling expeditions to the Fogclift Islands off the coast of South America in the 1920s. His mission was to uncover the legendary gold and diamond mines said to be hidden on the islands. During his first expedition, Professor Hacker made a remarkable discovery: an old mining train constructed by the Germans during the First World War.
